Embracing our ADHD as Professionals: A Practical One-Day Women’s Retreat
You are invited to step away for a day in a peaceful, residential setting near Lake Michigan, gathering with a small group of women at Frog Hollow, a private cottage. A light breakfast, lunch, and beverages will be provided throughout the day.
You’ll be hosted by Karyl Morin, educator and artist, and guided by Meredith Nieuwsma, an executive coach with over 15 years of experience. Together, they bring both professional insight and lived experience as women diagnosed with ADHD in adulthood.
The retreat is designed to help you understand yourself more fully, build self-compassion, and create supportive strategies that fit your life.
If you’re a capable, accomplished woman who has achieved a great deal—yet still feels scattered, overwhelmed, or like you’re not reaching your full effectiveness—you’re not alone. Many women navigate this by leaning into overachievement, perfectionism, or nonstop mental effort. With ADHD often presenting differently in girls and women, it’s not uncommon for these patterns to only be understood later in life. We are offering this experience where you can be surrounded by other capable, accomplished women while giving space to embrace our neurodiversity with courage and compassion.
Throughout the day, we will explore:
How ADHD presents in high-achieving adult women and why it’s often missed
Masking, overcompensating, and the cost of holding it all together
The impact on work, relationships, energy, and self-perception
The strengths and advantages of neurodiversity
Practical ways to work with your brain
Moving from coping to integration
The day will include guided discussion, reflection, and practical application, along with space for rest and informal connection. Expect both insight and levity, and honest conversation about what it means to be a capable, complex woman navigating ADHD in a culture not made for the ADHD brain.

Facilitators
Meredith Nieuwsma
Meredith Nieuwsma is an executive coach and leadership development facilitator with more than 15 years of experience working with leaders and teams across multiple sectors, including tech, manufacturing, for-profit, non-profit, education, and government. She helps people navigate uncertainty and change, build high-trust teams, and lead with integrity.
Her interest in ADHD in adult women is both professional and personal. Like many women, Meredith was diagnosed later in life after years of high performance. No matter what she achieved, she always felt a little different from others who could accomplish a lot in life and still know where they left their keys. That experience shapes her work. She takes a practical, evidence-based approach to helping people understand how ADHD actually shows up in their lives and how to work with it, rather than against it.

Karyl and Meredith first worked together almost a decade ago, when Meredith served as Karyl’s leadership coach during Karyl’s time as an executive director. Their relationship has since grown into a valued friendship rooted in mutual trust, shared curiosity, and a commitment to growth.
Karyl Morin
Karyl Morin is currently in a season of rest and creative exploration following 25 years of service in K12 education. Her career reflects a dynamic, purpose-driven path, with roles ranging from Director of Learning Innovation at a private school to special education teacher in a public school, independent educational consultant, and executive director of an arts and education nonprofit. Each transition was guided by a clear sense of possibility, growth, and alignment. Across every role, Karyl has led with creativity, collaboration, connection, and a thoughtful approach to change.
In this current chapter, Karyl is devoting her time to caregiving for her 85-year-old mother-in-law, raising her spirited Goldendoodle puppy, Hazyl, and deepening her engagement in the visual arts, including ceramics, painting, and creative community-building. This period of reflection has also included meaningful personal insight through work with a therapist, where she was identified as a highly intelligent individual with ADHD. This discovery has brought a deeper understanding and appreciation of her nonlinear career path and wide-ranging interests.
Karyl brings a relational, welcoming presence to her role as a host, creating spaces where others feel seen and at ease. You can follow Karyl’s creative work on Instagram at @unstuckstudio.karyl and explore her professional background on LinkedIn.
